Lazy Sunday

f/5.7, ISO-250 on Canon EF 28-135mm IS USM lens
Sunset skies usually bring out nice colours. You just have to look up at the right time as it's easy to miss the moment.
In this photo the slight hints of purple and pink are creeping into view. In a matter of minutes, the sky darkens as the sun disappears.

Newtown - From vintage shops to street art

Newtown is quite a vibrant and diverse suburb. The main street is lined with restaurants of different tastes, from African to Thai and Italian just to name a few. Also there are many retro and vintage shops. Every visit uncovers something interesting. Take a walk down King Street. If you're into something different, you will be surprised...
Here are some photos shot with my Canon EF-S 18-55mm IS II zoom lens.

Unique piece

Was in Surry Hills and came across this unique piece from a design shop called "Garden Life".
Apparently this colourful life size Kudu head is hand crocheted by very talented South African artisan and made from recycled plastic bags. It is one of a kind and a quick check on their website shows that it is priced at $2750.00. I think it's a pretty cool piece, but it doesn't fit my place though.
Both photos were taken using my Quantaray 19-35mm zoom lens. ISO-5000, f/5.6.

The Australian Magpie

Lens used: Canon EF-S 55-250mm IS II telephoto zoom
I came across this magpie while walking through the wetlands in Homebush Bay.
It was curious enough to stay around and let me take this shot.
ISO-3200, f/6.3.

Lifeguards at work

This photo was taken a few months in summer at Maroubra Beach.
In this shot comprises of objects relating to lifesaving, from the watercraft, the ground vehicle and warning sign in the foreground.
Taken using my Canon EF-S 55-250mm IS II telephoto zoom lens.
ISO-160, f/5.6 at a focal length of 250mm.
Shortly after this photo was taken, there was a public broadcast announcement warning all beach goers that the beach is closed for swimming due to the dangerous swells.

Moon Watching

Just a moment ago I noticed the moon out in the night sky. Decided to try some night photography out on my balcony.

A day at the beach - Bondi Beach

Visited Bondi Beach today and the weather was quite nice.
Brought along two lenses (Canon EF 28-135mm IS USM and Canon EF 75-300mm III) but didn't end up using the latter.
This shot was taken with a circular polarizing filter (CPL). ISO-100, f/10.

What are you looking at?

This photo was taken a few weeks ago at a friend's place.Their flatmates own the cat. So curious it was, I just had to take a photo.
Photo was taken quite late in the afternoon, handheld with an ISO of 3200 at f/5.6 using my favourite walk around lens (Canon EF 28-135mm IS USM).

Marigolds at the Park

Last week I took a few photos of Marigolds at the park using my Canon EF 28-135mm IS USM.
Both shot at f/5.6, top photo at ISO-120, bottom macro of red/yellow Marigold at ISO-800.

Wrapping up the work week

This shot was taken last night using my HTC Mozart smartphone. Right from the rooftop car park at my workplace, just after finishing the work week. It's a nice hue of colours in the sky with the moon visible. If I had my DSLR with me at that moment, I would have lined up a better photo. Maybe next time.

Here we go...

Mounted on Joby Gorillapod
First post!
I guess i'll be adding details of photos from my day to day and travels relating to my new found hobby. =)
Still have a lot to learn about my Canon EOS Kiss X4 and also about DSLR photography in general.
I'm really enjoying this as a hobby and hopefully, when time allows, I can spend some time to take more creative and interesting shots of anything that catches my eye.
